About the Founder

Tabitha Gallerani, MSW, LCSW

 

Tabitha Gallerani is founder and president of Gallerani Consulting Group, LLC. Ms. Gallerani has been leading the fight against human trafficking for more than a decade. A Subject Matter Expert in human trafficking, Ms. Gallerani works with national and foreign governments, as well as key stakeholders in criminal justice and social services, to identify and respond to cases of human trafficking specific to their region. She also works directly with victims of human trafficking, serving as a psychotherapist to victims in local, state, federal and international trafficking cases.

 

Ms. Gallerani works closely with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security; the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); New York State Human Trafficking Intervention Courts; New York State District Attorney's Offices; and New York Legal Aid Society. She has sat on numerous advisory and steering committees including the New York State Crime Victims Legal Advisory Committee as a Human Trafficking Expert.

 

Ms. Gallerani established the Anti-Human Trafficking Department at The Safe Center LI in New York. As director, she oversaw the Safe Harbour program (working with minors enslaved in human trafficking), the Human Trafficking Intervention Court and the Adult Anti-Trafficking program. Ms. Gallerani also helped establish and run the first safe home for commercially sexually exploited/sex trafficked minors in Miami, Florida. She has collaborated with national organizations on developing best practices in facilitating trauma-informed approaches with individuals exiting the Illicit Massage Business (IMB).

 

Publications, Case Law and Policy

Ms. Gallerani has been published in local and international papers including the American Psychological Association’s "International Journal of Play Therapy" regarding her extensive work with children experiencing and affected by trauma.

 

She has testified as a human trafficking subject matter expert and has set precedent which informed case law.

 

In Florida, she played an integral role in advocating for policy and Safe Harbor laws for trafficking victims. She assisted with various state and federal cases which resulted in successful prosecutions.

 

Ms. Gallerani earned her master’s degree in Social Work and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and Florida.
